Packing for a safari is about efficiency and comfort. Most small bush planes have a strict 15kg limit in soft-sided bags, so every item must count.
What to Pack:
- Neutral Colors: Stick to khaki, olive, and tan. Avoid dark blue and black (they attract Tsetse flies) and bright white (it gets dusty fast).
- Layers: Morning drives are freezing, but afternoons are hot. A lightweight fleece is essential.
- Power Bank: While our vehicles have chargers, a portable battery ensures your camera is always ready.
What to Leave Behind:
- Formal Wear: Safaris are casual; you won’t need suits or heavy dresses.
- Heavy Boots: Unless you are trekking, lightweight hiking shoes or sturdy sneakers are perfect.
- Plastic Bags: Tanzania has a strict ban on plastic bags—leave them at home to avoid fines at the airport.
