5-Day Tanzania Safari from Zanzibar

Your unforgettable Tanzania safari from Zanzibar starts today! Early in the morning, our driver will collect you from your hotel in Zanzibar and transfer you to Zanzibar Airport. Here, you’ll board a scenic 1-hour flight from Zanzibar to Arusha Airport in a comfortable small aircraft. Upon arrival, our friendly safari manager will personally welcome you to Arusha, provide a short briefing about your 5-day Tanzania safari itinerary, and introduce you to your professional driver-guide.

From Arusha, enjoy a picturesque 2-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Northern Tanzania’s most celebrated safari destinations. Tarangire is world-famous for its massive elephant herds, towering ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife.

From the open pop-up roof of your private 4x4 safari jeep, you’ll explore Tarangire’s stunning landscapes seasonal swamps, golden savannahs, and the life-giving Tarangire River. This river draws an incredible range of wildlife, including giraffes, zebras, impalas, elands, warthogs, lions, leopards, and over 550 species of birds.

As the sun sets, your guide will transfer you to your carefully selected safari lodge or tented camp for a delicious dinner and an overnight stay a perfect ending to your first day in Tanzania’s wilderness.

After a delicious breakfast, your adventure continues towards the breathtaking Rift Valley. You’ll pass through the vibrant towns of Mto wa Mbu and Karatu, set in the cooler highlands near the Ngorongoro Crater. Entering the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, you’ll make a short stop at a spectacular crater viewpoint, where you can take in panoramic views of this UNESCO World Heritage Site before descending to the other side.

The drive takes you along a scenic, bumpy route your complimentary “African massage” past traditional Maasai villages, where you may see locals in their colourful shuka robes tending to cattle. Your journey then leads to the world-famous Serengeti National Park, one of Africa’s top safari destinations.

At the Naabi Hill Gate, you can take a short walk up to the viewpoint for sweeping vistas over the endless Serengeti plains the perfect introduction to the park’s vast beauty. From here, continue to the wildlife-rich Seronera area in the heart of the Serengeti. This region is renowned for year-round game viewing and is home to the legendary Big Five lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard along with countless other species.

Lunch will be served en route before arriving at your carefully selected safari camp, tucked deep in the bush. As night falls, enjoy dinner under the stars, with the sounds of the wild as your evening soundtrack.

Rise early for a breathtaking sunrise game drive in Serengeti National Park, one of Tanzania’s most iconic safari destinations. This golden hour is the best time to spot rare nocturnal species returning from their nightly hunts, as well as early-rising diurnal animals beginning their day. Many animals gather near the roadside to avoid the morning dew, providing you with the opportunity for close-up wildlife encounters and stunning photography.

After a hearty breakfast back at your camp, set out for a full-day Serengeti safari in your private 4x4 pop-up roof jeep. The park’s name, Serengeti, comes from the Maasai word Siringiti, meaning “endless plains” and as you traverse its vast golden savannah, you’ll see why it’s considered one of the best safari destinations in Africa.

Your game drives will take you in search of the Serengeti’s incredible wildlife, including elephants, lions, cheetahs, elusive leopards, zebras, elands, and, depending on the season, millions of wildebeest during the Great Migration. The park is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, with a mix of resident and migratory species adding color and sound to the open plains.

As the sun sets, return to your safari camp for a delicious dinner and a night under the star-filled African sky.

After breakfast at your Serengeti camp or lodge, enjoy one last morning game drive in Serengeti National Park. This is another great opportunity to spot predators in action, herds of grazing herbivores, and, if in season, witness parts of the Great Wildebeest Migration crossing the open plains. Your guide will tailor the route to maximise your chances of seeing the Big Five and other remarkable wildlife before you leave the park.

Around midday, you’ll begin your journey towards the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, passing through the scenic savannahs and rocky outcrops of the Serengeti. You’ll likely spot wildlife along the way, as there are no fences between the two ecosystems.

Upon arrival at the Ngorongoro Crater rim, you’ll check in to your lodge or tented camp, strategically located to offer sweeping views over the crater. As evening falls, enjoy a warm dinner while gazing over one of the most spectacular landscapes in Africa, preparing for your Ngorongoro Crater descent the following morning.

After an early breakfast at your lodge, you’ll descend into the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. For the best wildlife sightings, consider taking a packed breakfast and reaching the crater floor as early as possible, which increases your chances of spotting rare species, such as the endangered Black Rhino.

The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is often called the Eighth Wonder of the World. Its towering 600–650 meter walls create a natural enclosure for one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. Here, you can spot an astonishing variety of animals, including the Big Five (lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino) in a single day if you’re lucky. Other sightings may include wildebeest, zebras, hyenas, hippos, and countless bird species.

Around midday, enjoy a picnic lunch at the hippo poolside picnic site, where you can relax while watching hippos wallow in the water. After lunch, you’ll ascend the crater rim, exit the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, and begin your journey back to Arusha, arriving in the late afternoon.
